Stage Event: RE Biotech COO Katsumasa Tashiro Presents at BioJapan 2025

From October 8 to 10, 2025, Pacifico Yokohama hosted BioJapan 2025, one of Asia’s premier international exhibitions covering biotechnology, regenerative medicine, and health tech. The event attracted industry leaders, academics, and government officials, fostering the dissemination of technological and research advancements, international collaboration, and new industry development through exhibitions, seminars, and partner programs.

RE Biotech, a pioneering internal venture established in 2023 by Japan Bio Products Co., Ltd. (JBP), participated among over 20 innovative startups selected nationwide through a bio community enhancement initiative supported by the Cabinet Office and JETRO. Throughout the event, the company delivered business presentations and engaged with domestic and international venture capital firms.

At a dedicated stage within its booth, Katsumasa Tashiro, COO of RE Biotech, presented on the potential of the human placenta and the company’s strategic approach to addressing future medical challenges, sharing recent developments and insights.

JBP is a pharmaceutical company known for manufacturing and marketing Laennec, a placental-derived drug derived from donated placentas, indicated for improving liver function. Laennec has been approved in Japan and over 15 countries worldwide by 2025.

RE Biotech focuses on developing next-generation products, including domestically produced human placenta–derived collagen, implantable medical devices, and biomaterials derived from animal placental tissues.

Moving forward, the company aims to strengthen collaborations within Japan and internationally to create new value in the biotechnology and life sciences sectors.
