Japan Biologics Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as "Japan Biologics") has established a venture company, RE Biotech. (hereafter referred to as "RE Biotech"), to research, develop, manufacture, and sell next-generation biomedical devices, regenerative medicine products, and reagents for regenerative medicine research using human placenta as a raw material.

Japan Biologics Co., Ltd is engaged in the research, development, manufacture, and sale of placental extract products, primarily Laennec, a pharmaceutical product made from human placental extract.

"LAENNEC" is an injection that is an indication for improvement of liver function, and is a product that is permitted to be used only by a doctor's prescription. This product has been used for more than 50 years at medical institutions in Japan, and is currently used more than 16 million ampoules annually in the world. As a human placental preparation, it has acquired the world's top class share, and continues to acquire drug approval in various countries around the world and is expanding the market.

Japan Biologics Co., Ltd. has been engaged in research and development of various placenta-derived products at its own research institute. In 2021, we launched the "LAENNEC Regenerative Medicine Research Center" with the theme of regenerative medicine research, and started basic research toward the development of next-generation biomedical devices and regenerative medicine products using human placenta as raw material. Currently, we are expanding our research and development in related fields, including the development of bioabsorbable materials made from human placental tissue and the successful isolation and cultivation of stem cells contained in human placental tissue.

Through the development of this product, we have achieved joint research with biomaterial laboratories and regenerative medicine laboratories at the University of Tokyo and Kyoto University, etc., and have also received approval for research plans from the national and local governments, and have received JPY 100 million yen over the past five years. By obtaining the above support, we have proven the potential and future potential of this research.

In January 2023, under the industry-government-academia collaborative development system, Japan Biologics Co., Ltd. will develop, manufacture, and sell next-generation biomedical devices, regenerative medicine products, and reagents for regenerative medicine research using human placenta as raw materials. This led to the establishment of RE Biotech., a company whose purpose is to contribute to the health and beauty of people.

We are currently building a joint development system with domestic and international medical device manufacturers and cell processing centers, and are proceeding with development with the aim of developing better products that are differentiated from existing products as quickly as possible.
